Ethereum Will Soar Against Bitcoin After ETF Approvals: K33 Research

Ethereum’s about to leave Bitcoin in the dust; at least that’s what K33 Research is betting on. The research company is saying ETH will see a major comeback against BTC, especially with those juicy ETF approvals on the horizon.

Here’s the scoop:

  • K33 Research predicts Ethereum ETFs will gobble up 0.75% to 1% of all ETH in circulation within five months of launch
  • Ethereum’s set to get its first US-listed spot ETF this July
  • Bitcoin’s facing a potential sell-off tsunami with 141,686 BTC ($8.8 billion) from the Mt. Gox saga coming back into play

Tobi Opeyemi Amure, an analyst at Trading.Biz, chimed in: “If Ethereum ETFs get approved, it could be massive for ETH Maxis. Of course, we might see a short-term ‘sell the news’ dip. But the long-term implications for ETH are worth mentioning. This could be what pushes Ethereum into a new era of institutional adoption.”

K33’s senior analyst, Vetle Lunde, is pretty bullish on ETH’s prospects. “ETFs are a solid catalyst for relative ETH strength as the summer progresses and flows accumulate,” Lunde says. He’s even calling current ETH/BTC prices “a bargain for the patient trader.”

Now, let’s talk numbers. The ETH/BTC ratio took a nosedive from 0.056 to 0.046 after the Bitcoin ETFs hit the scene. But then, bam! The SEC dropped that Ethereum ETF approval bombshell, and the ratio shot back up to 0.055.

To top it off, the futures market’s showing some interesting signs. Bitcoin futures premiums on CME are back in double digits, at 10.9%. And get this – the new VolatilityShares 2x leveraged ETH ETF? It’s already holding 33,700 ETH ($114 million) equivalent exposure after just 15 trading days. It looks like CME traders are itching for some long-leveraged ETH action.

Speaking of action, Bitwise just updated their Spot Ethereum ETF S1 filing. They’re throwing in a six-month fee waiver plan, taking a page out of VanEck’s playbook. Some folks are even talking about new all-time highs for Ethereum once this ETF hits the market.

But let’s not count our chickens before they hatch. The SEC still needs to give the final nod, and we all know how unpredictable they can be.
